IAS Today

The International Academy of Sfax provides quality, English-language education to over 100 students in Grades Pre-K through 7th grade. We will continue adding a grade level each year until we reach 12th grade.

History

It was a journey of multiple years to bring about the opening of IAS in September of 2018. LEAD Education Group (LEAD) is the founding organization for IAS. LEAD is a not-for-profit organization that has successfully started educational programs in several countries throughout the Mediterranean.

LEAD is dedicated to the growth and development of IAS as it provides the quality of education for the city of Sfax that has been sought for years. LEAD provides leadership for the operation of IAS.

IAS is fully authorized by the Tunisian Ministry of Education, and we are currently seeking extra accreditation in America. The process to obtain accreditation usually takes several years, however we are working diligently to achieve this. Such accreditation is widely recognized internationally.

LEAD also provides a board of directors which oversees the entire organizational development of IAS.

Welcome to the International Academy of Sfax, where we are “Changing Lives Through Education.” IAS is committed to providing you a quality education filled with accomplishments to celebrate and fond memories to treasure.

Our main goal is to meet the growing needs of an international education as many who live in Sfax have stated to our founders. An international education for the children of Sfax will provide opportunities for the next generation that we can only imagine.

As English has become an international language, we primarily teach our Kindergarten and Elementary age students in English. Arabic language study begins the second semester for Kindergarten and continues each school year through elementary grades. French language study begins in Grade 1. Multiple language learning is only one of our unique educational opportunities. Students are taught to think creatively and to problem solve. Such skills are essential to becoming successful in the world today. Students will also learn about a variety of other cultures and celebrations to gain a global perspective.

Since we are an American school, we use classroom routines and instructional practices common to an American education.

At IAS, we :

Decide to do our very best each and every day. We make good choices and act on those good choices. We conduct ourselves in such a way that we can be proud of who we are and what we do.
Listen actively. We listen and respond to each other in a way that improves mutual understanding and respect. This is an important first step in seeking solutions to problems.
Respect ourselves and others, accepting the uniqueness that makes each of us special and the world more interesting.
Attend daily. It is important to be on time and in school daily to participate in learning.

At the forefront of all our decisions, we ask ourselves, “What is best for the student?” All of our policies and practices are for the benefit and safety of your child. They are also in place to ensure that every student will have an opportunity to be successful.
